Barkway launches on 30th September. New workspaces open then.

Set up your services and pricing

Services are the backbone of every booking. They tell Barkway how long an appointment takes and how much to charge — once they're added, the calendar and invoices run themselves.

Core services vs add-ons

Barkway works best with a simple pattern:

  • One core service per booking (the main groom).
  • Optional add-ons layered on top (nail trim, teeth clean, etc.).

This keeps scheduling and totals consistent for you and for clients booking online.

Add a service

  1. Go to Services in the main navigation, then click New Service.
  2. Enter a clear name, price, and duration.
  3. Choose whether it's a core service.
  4. Save.

Good practices

  • Keep names simple and obvious, like Small - Full groom or Nail clip.
  • If your prices vary by size, create separate services so invoices stay clear.
  • Barkway starts you with a starter template of services — edit, rename, or delete anything you don't need.
  • For add-on-only bookings (like a nail clip on its own), add a core service such as Other at 0.00, then keep the extras as add-ons.

Client-bookable services

Not every service needs to be client-facing. Use the Available for client booking requests toggle on each service to control what appears when clients book online. Keep specialist or internal-only services staff-side, and review the list after you change services.

Deleting services

A service can't be deleted if it's already linked to bookings — this protects your booking history and invoices.

Why it matters

Once your services are set, Barkway calculates booking durations automatically, shows accurate invoice totals, and applies discounts and deposits without a calculator.
